Starbucks socially and environmentally responsible production and buying guidelines for coffee and cocoa are respectively called C.A.F.E. Practices and COCOA Practices. CERES has been approved as a verification organisation by SCS.

In addition to ensuring that certain minimum standards in the field of socially and environmentally responsible coffee and cocoa production are met, improved marketing opportunities into the Starbucks supply chain may develop.
