Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) from Textile Exchange sets new standards for the ethical and environmentally conscious use of down in the clothing industry.
This internationally recognized standard ensures that down and feathers in products made from geese and ducks come from ethically responsible sources. By adhering to strict criteria for animal welfare, land management and transparency, the RDS sets a new benchmark for the clothing industry.
Animal welfare: The RDS ensures that geese and ducks from which the down is sourced are kept in good conditions. This means less stress for the animals and a better quality of life.
Environmental protection: The RDS promotes sustainable practices in land management and environmental protection. Certification ensures that the environmental impact is minimized and the animals' natural habitats are protected.
Transparency: With the RDS, brands and consumers can be sure that the origin of the down in the products can be traced back to the place of origin. The certification provides a clear and reliable guarantee that the products have been manufactured to the highest standards.
CERES conducts RDS audits worldwide. It is important to note that no farms are currently certified. Instead, our offer is aimed at the further steps of the supply chain.
